Sarawak Civil Servants May Receive Two Months’ Bonus, Abang Johari Hints at Strong Fiscal Performance

(SARIKEI, 8th) — Sarawak civil servants have learned that, due to the state’s encouraging fiscal performance in the first half of the year, they may receive a two-month bonus.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari hinted at this, based on the latest report he received; however, the state’s detailed financial situation will be revealed in the upcoming Sarawak budget release.

“Based on the report I received for the first half of the year, the situation is ‘quite convincing’, but I can’t disclose specific details before the budget announcement. However, seeing the hard work of civil servants and others nowadays, I dare say there could be a two-month salary bonus.”

Abang Johari made these remarks during a press conference after attending the launch of the local “Sarawak Cares” (SKS) 2026 project today.

He added that the issuance of this bonus takes into account the current state revenue situation, as well as the contributions and efforts of civil servants in ensuring the development agenda and providing effective services to the people.

At the same time, he also stated that the Sarawak government will provide various rewards to civil servants to thank them for their dedication and hard work in fulfilling their respective duties.
