The scale of internet users in China has reached 1.125 billion, with the number of generative artificial intelligence (AI) users reaching 602 million.
According to a CCTV News report, the 57th "Statistical Report on China’s Internet Development" was released on the 5th.
The report shows that as of December last year, China’s internet user population reached 1.125 billion, and the internet penetration rate surpassed 80%, enabling broader segments of the population to benefit from digital development.
In terms of mobile networks, China has built 4.838 million 5G base stations. All towns and 95% of administrative villages nationwide have access to 5G, and 5G advanced networks already cover over 330 cities. For fixed networks, two-thirds of cities in the country have reached the gigabit city standard. Regarding computing infrastructure, 42 high-performance intelligent computing clusters with thousands of cards have been built, ranking among the world's top.
The report also shows that as of December last year, China’s generative artificial intelligence user base reached 602 million, up by 141.7% over the end of 2024; the penetration rate reached 42.8%, a significant year-on-year increase of 25.2%.
