On the afternoon of the 4th, Chinese President Xi Jinping held a video meeting with Russian President Putin at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Xi Jinping emphasized that China and Russia join hands to safeguard global strategic stability.

According to CCTV News, Xi Jinping pointed out that in the past year, we met twice, leading China-Russia relations into a new stage of development. The two countries solemnly commemorated the 80th anniversary of the victory of the World Anti-Fascist War, demonstrating both sides' firm determination to defend the achievements of World War II and international fairness and justice. Bilateral economic and trade exchanges have maintained steady momentum. The "China-Russia Year of Culture" has come to a successful conclusion, cultural and people-to-people exchanges and cooperation have reached a new level, and personnel exchanges have become closer. The two sides have successively and successfully hosted the Shanghai Cooperation Organization Tianjin Summit and the Moscow Prime Ministers' Meeting, strengthened multilateral cooperation, and continued efforts to build a more just and reasonable global governance system.

Xi Jinping emphasized that this year marks the start of China's "15th Five-Year Plan" period, and China will take a more proactive approach to high-level opening up, sharing new development opportunities with countries around the world, including Russia. This year is also the 30th anniversary of the establishment of the China-Russia strategic partnership of coordination, the 25th anniversary of the signing of the "China-Russia Treaty of Good-Neighborliness and Friendly Cooperation," and the launch year of the "China-Russia Year of Education." Both sides should seize the historical opportunity, strengthen high-level exchanges, deepen pragmatic cooperation in various fields, and ensure that China-Russia relations continue to move forward on the right path through deeper strategic coordination and more proactive contributions as major powers.

Xi Jinping stated that since the beginning of this year, the international situation has become ever more turbulent. As responsible major countries and permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, China and Russia have the obligation to promote the international community to uphold fairness and justice, firmly defend the achievements of World War II, resolutely safeguard the international system with the United Nations at its core and the basic norms of international law, and join hands to safeguard global strategic stability.

Putin stated that in the past year, China and Russia jointly commemorated the 80th anniversary of the victory in World War II, steadfastly safeguarding the hard-won world peace won by the peoples of both countries at great sacrifice, and defending the truth of history. The cooperation between the two countries in trade, energy, science and technology, agriculture, and other fields has deepened and become more substantial, cultural and people-to-people exchanges have grown closer, the Year of Culture was a great success, and the mutual visa exemption policy has made exchanges between the two peoples more convenient. Looking ahead to the new year, Russia is full of confidence in China-Russia relations. Both sides should continue to firmly support each other in safeguarding national sovereignty and security, achieve economic and social development and prosperity, promote people-to-people exchanges in education and culture, and benefit the two peoples.

In the face of a complex and ever-changing international situation, Russia is willing to continue to strengthen strategic coordination with China in multilateral platforms such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and BRICS, injecting positive energy into international affairs. Russia will actively support China in hosting the APEC Economic Leaders' Informal Meeting in Shenzhen.

The two heads of state also had in-depth exchanges on international and regional hotspot issues of common concern.
