After 3 Years on Hiatus Due to Drug Scandal, Yoo Ah-in Makes First Public Appearance—Is His Comeback Imminent?

Director Na Hong-jin's new film Hope: Endgame held its VIP screening in Korea on the night of the 13th, drawing a star-studded crowd. Even award-winning actor Yoo Ah-in, who halted his career due to a drug scandal, was spotted accompanying Exhuma director Jang Jae-hyun. This marks Yoo’s first appearance at a major public film event since receiving a suspended sentence for his drug case.

According to viral videos on Korean forums, Yoo Ah-in attended dressed in a black shirt, black pants, and a black cap, intentionally pulling down the brim. He did not walk the official red carpet, but interacted with acquaintances inside the screening venue. Carrying a thermal mug, he was seen occasionally glancing around, but when he spotted friends, he immediately broke into a big smile, greeted them with “long time no see,” and happily exchanged hugs—gestures that sparked widespread discussion online. Many witnesses at the event also claimed that Yoo arrived with director Jang Jae-hyun of Exhuma. Earlier rumors suggested Yoo might join Jang’s new project Vampire, further fueling speculation that this appearance signals his comeback. However, the film’s producer and distributor stated, “Nothing is confirmed at this time.”

In addition, it was recently reported that Yoo Ah-in is in talks with GD’s agency, Galaxy Corporation, to sign an exclusive contract, with a rumored signing bonus of 5 billion KRW (around 13.7 million MYR), sparking polarized discussions online in South Korea.#
