Dudong Chinese School Celebrates Lantern Festival – Teachers and Students Welcome the Year of the Horse

(Sibu, 28th) Joyful songs and laughter bid farewell to the old year, as festive cheer welcomes the Spring Festival. In celebration of the 2026 Bingwu Year of the Horse Lantern Festival, Dudong Chinese School today held a lively Lantern Festival event in the school's grand hall. School Board Chairman Sun Shengli, First Vice Chairman Zhang Chengji, Second Vice Chairman Wen Weiye, Secretary General Huang Linming, PR Officer Cai Dingzhe, as well as the PTA President and other distinguished guests all attended, gathering with over 400 teachers and students to celebrate this festive occasion.

The event officially commenced with the solemn rendition of the national anthem. Following this, Chairman Sun Shengli delivered a warm welcome speech, expressing gratitude for the support of the guests and parents, and extending Spring Festival greetings to all teachers and students. He also affirmed the school’s achievements over the past year and encouraged everyone to strive for even greater success in the coming year.

After the speeches, the highly anticipated cultural performances took the stage. The program, prepared entirely by students from various grades and co-curricular groups, was rich and diverse, revolving around the themes of Spring Festival and the Year of the Horse, showcasing the charm of traditional Chinese culture and youthful vitality.

The performances opened with a vibrant rendition of "Xi Yang Yang" by the school's co-curricular group. The kindergarten children were adorable and stole the show, as KG1 presented "Lucky Cat," KG2 performed "Wishing You a Happy New Year," and KG3 brought "Hello, I’m Fine, Happy New Year" one by one. Their innocent and lively acts filled the hall with laughter.

The lower grade students also shone brightly: the first graders' "Blessings Arrive Immediately" was playful and cute; second graders advocated a healthy lifestyle with their energetic "Healthy New Year"; third graders, with a warm dance performance "Togetherness," conveyed the Lantern Festival’s message of family reunion, earning rounds of applause.

Students from fourth and fifth grades teamed up for a dance and skit "Happy New Year Horse," vividly interpreting the vigorous spirit of the Year of the Horse. The sixth graders’ choir performance of "Great Year of Prosperity" echoed with hopes and best wishes for the new year.

For the grand finale, the teachers’ team delivered the classic New Year song "Congratulations, Congratulations," whose familiar melody instantly ignited the atmosphere, bringing students and teachers together in celebration and pushing the event to its climax.

After the performances, all guests and students gathered for a group photo, capturing these heartwarming and joyous moments. The event concluded successfully in a harmonious and festive atmosphere, not only enriching the school’s cultural life, but also allowing everyone to join together in the festive spirit, praying for peace and prosperity for the nation and further advancements for the school in the Bingwu Year of the Horse.
