Dynamik Trees Project One-Year Anniversary: Brunei Children's Coding Workshop Held

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 17th) Dynamik Technologies, in collaboration with the Institute for Biodiversity and Environmental Research (IBER) at Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD), hosted a special “Brunei Kids Can Code” (BKCC) workshop at UBD on the 16th of this month to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the 'Dynamik Trees' project.
This workshop brought together 25 students and combined digital learning with environmental awareness through hands-on programming courses. Participants used Micro:bit technology to build an automated plant watering system that could detect soil moisture and water the plants as needed, linking programming concepts to real-world applications in sustainability.
After the workshop, the main guests, UBD Assistant Vice Chancellor (Research, Innovation & Sustainability) Abdul Haniff and Dynamik Technologies Head of Corporate & Services Siti Rozana, jointly officiated the Dynamik Trees project’s one-year anniversary celebration.

The event included a tree planting ceremony and a biodiversity garden tour at the UBD Botanical Research Centre (UBD BRC).
To mark the commemorative tree planting and celebration, the UBD Botanical Research Centre donated a Hopea vacciniifolia sapling, while Dynamik Technologies contributed a Dipterocarpus borneensis sapling. This initiative forms part of the Dynamik Trees “Adopt a Tree” corporate social responsibility (CSR) program and aims to support the “Brunei Kids Can Code” project. It reflects both parties’ shared commitment to nurturing environmental awareness and digital learning in the younger generation.

The “Dynamik Trees” project, launched in 2024, aims to support the ex-situ conservation of five native tree species via its “Adopt a Tree” program and has so far planted 23 high-value native saplings at the UBD Biodiversity Research Centre (UBD BRC).
The project is part of Dynamik Technologies’ CSR initiatives and seeks to advance biodiversity research and environmental protection.
Siti Rozana stated that the collaboration with UBD’s Institute for Biodiversity and Environmental Research reflects Dynamik’s philosophy that technological and business advancement must go hand-in-hand with care for the environment and the community.

“This principle is at the core of our operations. At Dynamik Technologies, responsibility remains our guiding value, reminding us that every action we take should contribute to a better future. Our goal is not only to support sustainable development in words, but to realize this goal through long-term partnerships and tangible impact.”
The partnership between Dynamik Technologies, IBER UBD, and the BKCC project continues to highlight the importance of linking technology, education, and environmental responsibility in support of Brunei Darussalam’s sustainable development objectives.
