Russian Presidential aide Ushakov said on the evening of the 8th that Russia agrees with and supports the proposal put forward by US President Trump to extend the ceasefire and exchange captured personnel between Russia and Ukraine.

Ushakov stated that the Russian side had agreed to the US proposal to extend the Russia-Ukraine ceasefire until May 11, and supports the US proposal for both sides to exchange 1,000 captured personnel before the 11th.

He indicated that the above proposal was reached through telephone communication between Russia and the US, and "President Trump deliberately made this proposal on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War."

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Zelensky has ordered that the parade held on May 9 in Moscow's Red Square would not be a target of Ukrainian attacks.

The Ukrainian presidential website, late at night on the 8th, published a presidential decree signed by Zelensky that day, stating that in light of the humanitarian purpose expressed during talks with the US side on the 8th, Ukraine decided that during the parade on May 9 at Moscow's Red Square, the area of Red Square would not be a target of Ukrainian attacks.

Zelensky also stated on social media that, under the framework of negotiations brokered by the US, the Russian side had agreed to a proposal to exchange prisoners of war with Ukraine, and a ceasefire should also be realized from May 9 to 11.

He said that the release of prisoners of war is one of the key humanitarian issues that need to be resolved in the Russia-Ukraine conflict, and is also an important basis for determining Ukraine's position. Ukraine is continuing its efforts to bring captive Ukrainians home.
