(Kuala Lumpur, 23rd) Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah stated that as of last Saturday (September 20th), a total of 13 million Malaysian citizens nationwide have used the government-issued RM100 SARA assistance to purchase essential goods.
He made this statement on Tuesday morning when officiating the “e-Invoice Nationwide Roadshow Promotion” flag-off ceremony.
Subsequently, when reporters asked how many people have yet to use this assistance, he responded that the SARA aid can be used until the end of this year, so the public still has time to spend it.
The aid was announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar and was distributed via MyKad on August 31st, National Day, under the SARA Compassionate Basic Assistance Scheme, granting RM100 to all citizens aged 18 and above.
According to earlier reports, more than 10 million Malaysian citizens nationwide have used the government-issued RM100 SARA assistance to purchase necessities, which has driven a total market consumption of up to RM641.9 million.
