【BUDI95】E-hailing Drivers May Apply for Additional Quotas Second Finance Minister: Must Be Verified by Affiliated Companies

(Kuala Lumpur, 23rd) Second Finance Minister Datuk Seri Amir Hamzah pointed out that under the Madani BUDI95 RON95 Petrol Subsidy Program, e-hailing drivers can apply for additional quotas, but they must be verified by their respective companies.
“If they meet the criteria, they may submit applications with the backing of the company. The government, using tracking records from the existing system, can clearly monitor the number of refuels daily and monthly for each driver and ensure that subsidies are truly used for work purposes.”
“Additionally, we will introduce a new mechanism to prevent individuals from making multiple unreasonable subsidy claims within a single day.”
He made these remarks in response to media questions after officiating at the flag-off ceremony for the 'E-Invoice Nationwide Promotion Tour' on Tuesday morning.
Separately, when media asked about the preparation progress for the Madani BUDI95 RON95 Petrol Subsidy Program and whether similar situations to the SARA aid fund might occur, Amir Hamzah said that this is not a new initiative— since the end of last year, the government has been working with major oil companies, and preparations have been ongoing.
“At present, all major oil companies have confirmed they are ready, and the system can be used at petrol stations and their affiliated convenience stores to ensure smooth operation. Of course, we must also admit that not everyone is completely familiar with the system yet, and certain issues or individual cases may arise during the rollout. However, we will continue to monitor and adjust to ensure the program is properly implemented.”
Amir Hamzah pointed out that the measure will be rolled out in phases: on September 27, it will first be open to those with police and military ID cards; on September 28, it will be expanded to the B40 low-income group and M40 group receiving Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah (STR); and on September 30, it will be fully open to all Malaysian citizens.
According to BUDI95, the price of RON95 fuel will be reduced from the current RM2.05 per liter to RM1.99 per liter. All citizens holding a valid driver’s license can enjoy the special price of RM1.99 per liter, with a maximum monthly purchase limit of 300 liters per person.
