(Bandar Seri Begawan, 11th) Outgoing Chairman Jin Guang of the Hainan Association in Bandar Seri Begawan said that his three terms in office have flown by. First of all, please allow me to say the most sincere: Thank you!
“Thank you for your trust, which gave me the opportunity to serve the association, and thanks for your support in advancing various association affairs during my tenure. I especially want to thank you for your tolerance and understanding of my shortcomings.”
Han Jingguang made these remarks this morning at the association’s 2025 Annual General Meeting.
He said that over the past six years, we have witnessed the growth of the Hainan Association together. From association activities to building fellowship among fellow villagers, from cultural heritage to community participation, every step forward could not have been achieved without everyone’s unity and cooperation. Being able to work side by side with all of you has been my greatest honor.
A month ago, for the first time I attended the 18th World Hainan Community Convention, grandly held at the Penang International Convention Center in Malaysia. I was touched to feel that Hainanese people around the world have a platform for communication and connection, experiencing the enthusiasm and unity of Hainanese. Some fellow villagers also mentioned memories from the 10th World Hainan Community Convention hosted in Brunei in 2007, which allowed them to feel the solidarity of Brunei Hainanese.
The next World Hainan Community Convention will be held in Thailand, and I welcome all fellow villagers to participate enthusiastically.
He said that as chairman, my mission has been accomplished. The Hainan Association has many talented and energetic members. I believe that under the leadership of the new council, the association will surely build on its past and climb to new heights.
Finally, he sincerely wished our Hainan Association—prosperous operations and harmony among all fellow villagers!
