On the 10th, Victoria State Premier Allan announced that due to the severe bushfire situation, Victoria has entered a disaster state, and a total fire ban has been implemented across the state.
According to Xinhua News Agency, Allan said at a press conference that as of Saturday morning, there were ten major fire incidents in Victoria, with another twenty being closely monitored. Due to the escalation of nearby fires to an 'emergency' level, parts of the famous tourist attraction 'Great Ocean Road' have been closed.
In addition, the three people reported missing due to the bushfires in Victoria on the 9th have been confirmed safe. The Victorian Country Fire Authority stated that three firefighters were injured while battling the fires.
The southern regions of Australia have been experiencing a heatwave since the 7th, with temperatures in many places rising above 40 degrees Celsius. On Saturday, although temperatures in Victoria dropped somewhat, strong winds intensified the fires, so the situation remains grim. Meanwhile, neighboring New South Wales and the Australian Capital Territory are still facing high temperatures and increased fire risk.
This bushfire disaster has already burned over 300,000 hectares of land in Victoria, caused power outages for 38,000 households and businesses, destroyed more than 130 buildings, and resulted in significant livestock losses.
The Australian Bureau of Meteorology predicts that this heatwave will become the most severe heatwave disaster since the 'Black Summer' bushfire season of 2019–2020.
