(Sibu, 19th) The people of Sarawak from all ethnic groups recently celebrated the eve of the 2025 Gawai Festival in harmony. The event was grandly held at the Kingwood Hotel Sibu.
Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Dato Sri Chee Khoon Ting, stated that activities like this receive enthusiastic support from various ethnic groups and have become a symbol of unity in Sarawak.
"Regardless of background, all sectors of society are sharing the joy of the festival, fully demonstrating unity and harmony between different ethnic groups. This is the unique characteristic of Sarawak and also the special feature of Malaysia," he said.
Chee Khoon Ting, who is also the Member of Parliament for Bintulu, discussed this grand event on his official Facebook post, emphasizing the event's significant importance.
On the political level, he called on the parties of the Sarawak Parties Coalition (GPS) to continue to consolidate internal relations, adhering to the principles of mutual trust and cooperation.
"This is crucial because a political crisis might disrupt internal unity and provide opportunities for the opposition parties to gain grassroots support," he said.
The dinner was presided over by Chee Khoon Ting and featured exciting cultural performances from various ethnic groups, attracting more than 2,000 guests, making it a lively and bustling event.
