Korean superstar group BTS member SUGA (Min Yoongi) was officially discharged from the military on the 21st, marking the return of all BTS members from service. On the 23rd, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) announced that it would grant new certifications to nine of BTS’s songs.
According to RIAA, digital singles and albums are certified as Gold (over 500,000 units sold), Platinum (over 1 million units), Multi-Platinum (over 2 million units), and Diamond (over 10 million units). Among these, “RUN”, the title track of BTS’s 4th mini album “The Most Beautiful Moment in Life pt.2”, “Blood, Sweat & Tears” from the 2nd full album “WINGS”, “DNA” from “LOVE YOURSELF 承 ‘Her’”, and “FAKE LOVE” from “LOVE YOURSELF 轉 ‘Tear’” have all received Platinum certification.
In addition, among BTS members’ solo works, Jimin’s debut solo album “FACE” with its title track “Like Crazy”, and Jungkook’s single “Seven” have also been awarded Platinum certifications. In total, BTS has obtained 13 Platinum certifications, setting a new record for the most RIAA Platinum awards among K-pop artists.
Furthermore, BTS’s iconic “Dynamite” received a 5x Platinum (over 5 million units sold) certification from the RIAA last year. Among Korean artists, only BTS and PSY currently hold songs certified as 5x Platinum.
