The Foreign Ministry confirmed on Saturday that the operation to evacuate stranded Malaysians from Thailand's Hat Yai and surrounding flood-affected areas has been successfully completed.
A total of 6,222 Malaysians who were stranded due to severe floods have been successfully rescued.
According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, this evacuation operation was jointly coordinated by the Malaysian Embassy in Bangkok, the Malaysian Consulate General in Songkhla, as well as more than 15 non-governmental organizations and volunteer groups.
On the last day of the evacuation, the remaining 12 stranded individuals successfully returned home via the Bukit Kayu Hitam checkpoint in Kedah.
