(Bandar Seri Begawan, 16th) The Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University (UNISSA) 1102 Scout Troop recently held the 7th "Self-Leadership Course" at the Brunei Outreach Base Durian Training Centre (OBBD) in Batang Duri, Temburong District, alongside the 9th New Member Induction Ceremony.
This event aimed to cultivate resilient and well-rounded youth talents.
A total of 29 scout members participated in the three-day, two-night event, which included systematic training and a solemn ceremony. The course aimed to comprehensively train the scouts’ psychological resilience and physical performance, strengthen their perseverance, discipline, and teamwork capabilities.
The training projects were rich and diverse, including group discussions and results presentations, first aid knowledge lectures, water confidence training, flying fox zipline experience, team cooperation games, basic mapping and compass navigation lessons, a three-kilometer jungle trek, as well as rafting on the Temburong River.
Through a series of challenging activities, members not only improved their confidence and stress resistance, but also enhanced their ability to tackle challenges and solve problems in unconventional environments.
At the induction ceremony, new members completed the “self-awareness” segment and were officially permitted to join the scout troop, symbolizing their commitment to scout responsibilities, strict discipline, and serving society.
In addition, in conjunction with “Volunteer Action Day,” scout members also carried out social service activities, including organizing and rebuilding the rafting storage area, and cleaning the surrounding environment. Their practical actions exemplified the scout spirit and the values of giving back to society.
This course not only effectively enhanced the scouts’ leadership potential and team spirit but also laid a solid foundation for cultivating future youth leaders with a strong sense of responsibility, mission, and national identity.
