During the G7 Summit in Canada, French President Emmanuel Macron stated on the 17th that he opposes any military action that could lead to a regime change in Iran, as it would result in chaos in Iran and the Middle East.
He told the media, "We do not want Iran to have nuclear weapons, but the biggest mistake would be using military strikes to replace a regime, as it would create chaos."
He emphasized his strong opposition to airstrikes targeting Iran’s energy infrastructure, civilians, or any actions that could result in a regime change, while stressing the need to resume negotiations as soon as possible.
The G7 issued a joint statement on the 17th, claiming that Israel has the right to "self-defense," while also putting pressure on Iran and emphasizing that "Iran must never acquire nuclear weapons."
The statement called for de-escalation of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, including achieving a ceasefire in Gaza, to reduce hostilities in the Middle East.
