Royal Family Offers Condolences to Abdullah's Family, Monarch: Gratitude for Contributions to the Nation

On Tuesday morning, the national monarch Sultan Ibrahim and consort, Sultan Sharafuddin of Selangor and consort, Sultan Nazrin of Perak, along with other members of the royal family, extended their condolences to the family of the late former Prime Minister Tun Abdullah's widow, Tun Jeanne Abdullah.

His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim posted on Facebook today (15th), "My wife (Raja Zarith Sofiah) and I extend our deepest condolences to Tun Jeanne Abdullah and all family members."
Sultan Sharafuddin and Sultanah Nur Rashikin are saddened by Abdullah's passing and pray for his soul to rest in peace.

“We are grateful for the many contributions Abdullah made to the country. May Allah grant his soul mercy and place him among the righteous.”

Sultan Sharafuddin of Selangor posted that he knew Abdullah since the 1960s and described him as a responsible and calm national leader, as well as a leader deeply concerned about the welfare of the people.

Sultan Sharafuddin also attached two photos of Abdullah seeking an audience with the Sultan. Abdullah was awarded Selangor's DSSA and SPMS titles in 1992 and 2000. He and Sultanah Nur Rashikin are saddened by his passing and pray for his soul to rest in peace.

This morning, Sultan Nazrin of Perak ordered flags in the state be flown at half-mast to mourn Abdullah's passing during the opening of the Perak state assembly.

“I, along with Sultanah Tuanku Zara, the state assembly, and all Perakians deeply mourn Abdullah's passing and extend condolences to Jeanne Abdullah and the family. May Allah, in His mercy, watch over his soul and grant him peace.”

Abdullah passed away at 7:10 PM last night at the National Heart Institute at the age of 85.
Sultan Nazrin ordered flags in the state be flown at half-mast on Tuesday to mourn Abdullah's passing.
His remains were interred according to a state funeral ceremony, with a funeral prayer held at the National Mosque, followed by burial at the Heroes' Mausoleum at the National Mosque.

This morning, the National Mosque was enveloped in a solemn atmosphere as people arrived to pay their last respects to the country's fifth Prime Minister.

From 10 AM to 1 PM, Abdullah's family, politicians, and friends entered the mosque in batches to pay their respects.

Additionally, former Prime Minister and Perikatan Nasional Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin, along with coalition leaders including Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Secretary-General Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, paid their respects to Abdullah.

Meanwhile, former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri also went to the National Mosque this morning to mourn Abdullah.

Furthermore, Sultan Mizan Zainal Abidin of Terengganu, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah, Minister of Communications Datuk Fahmi, Minister of Foreign Affairs Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, Deputy Minister of Works Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan, former Health Director-General Tan Sri Noor Hisham, and Selangor Chief Minister Datuk Seri Amirudin were also present to bid farewell to Abdullah.

Abdullah was born on November 26, 1939, in Balik Pulau, Penang, and served as the Member of Parliament for Kepala Batas from 1978 to 2008. He became Prime Minister on October 31, 2003, after Tun Dr. Mahathir resigned, and served until April 3, 2009.
