Cambodian Ministry of Interior spokesman Khieu Sopheak confirmed on the 14th that 80 South Korean nationals are currently being detained by the Cambodian Immigration Department.
He stated that although South Korean officials have already made contact with these individuals, they 'still refuse to return to their country.'
He pointed out that it is unclear whether this group of South Korean citizens is the same as the 80 missing South Koreans reported in previous media reports.
On the 14th, the South Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that as of August, about 80 South Korean citizens who may have fallen victim to fake jobs or scam centers are missing in Cambodia.
An official from the Ministry told AFP: 'The safety status of about 80 people has yet to be verified.'
