The Chinese Embassy in Cambodia reported on the 14th that, according to the Sihanoukville Provincial Police Department, on September 20th, provincial police successfully rescued two Chinese citizens who jumped from a vehicle on the Phnom Penh-Sihanoukville Expressway. In cooperation with the Oddar Meanchey Provincial Police Department, they also successfully rescued four victims (all Chinese citizens, including one female) and arrested six criminal suspects (all Chinese citizens, including one female), as well as collected a large amount of related physical evidence.
● Long-term Targeting of Chinese Nationals for Abduction
According to provincial police, this criminal group has long specifically targeted Chinese nationals for illegal detention, kidnapping for ransom, and human trafficking. The case is currently under further investigation by the provincial police.
In addition, according to local media reports, police in Phnom Penh, the capital of Cambodia, successfully dismantled a telecom fraud ring in a villa in the Sen Sok district, arresting 18 Chinese suspects. One principal offender has been charged and is being held pending trial, while the remaining 17 will be repatriated according to the law.
