68-Year-Old Emmy Award-Winning Actor Accused of Sexual Assault of 2 Boys; On the Run for a Week, Disheveled at Surrender

Authorities in New Mexico, USA, issued an arrest warrant last week for 68-year-old director and Emmy Award-winning actor Timothy Busfield, accusing him of inappropriate sexual contact with two minors. According to The Sun, police confirmed that the 68-year-old Busfield turned himself in to New Mexico officials on Tuesday.

According to the criminal complaint filed by investigators, a minor accused Busfield of making inappropriate contact with him multiple times. The alleged actions are believed to have taken place during the filming of the series "The Cleaning Lady," where Busfield served as both director and actor.

According to a copy of the search warrant obtained by The US Sun, Busfield touched the private parts of one boy three times over his clothing when the boy was 7 years old. When the boy was 8, Busfield allegedly touched him 5 or 6 more times. It is reported that the child did not tell anyone about his experience because he was afraid Busfield would become angry.

The second boy stated that during Busfield's more than two-year involvement in the production of the show, he was repeatedly inappropriately touched. The criminal complaint states Busfield once kissed the boy on the face while he was getting a haircut in the makeup room. The boys’ mother reported the incidents to social services in October 2025. It is reported that Busfield only told police he was "very likely" to have had some kind of "physical contact" with the children.

Busfield is known for works such as "The West Wing," "Field of Dreams," and "Thirtysomething," and won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 1991 for "Thirtysomething." He has been married for many years to actress Melissa Gilbert.
