Taiwanese singer Yoga Lin recently appeared on the Chinese podcast show "Zuo Bian Feng Hen Da," where he rarely spoke about the low point in his life during 2018 and 2019. At the time, his daughter Pippi had just been born, a moment when he should've been immersed in immense joy. However, his father was suddenly diagnosed with stage 3 pancreatic cancer. On top of that, the COVID-19 pandemic hit the world, striking him with pressure one blow after another. He candidly admitted, "I also got sick."
Yoga Lin had previously disclosed in interviews that, due to his long-term anxiety over his family's health, his own body started raising red flags. At first, he was diagnosed with irritable bowel syndrome. "Later, after undergoing a check-up, doctors found severe inflammation in several other organs—and it was visible to the naked eye. Luckily, I went for a check-up in time." Since he sought medical help early, he didn't delay treatment. During this period, he also began to research food and nutrition in-depth.
Yoga Lin said that the shift in roles and the huge changes in his family happened almost simultaneously: "First as a father, then there's my family, and of course, in the future, my fans, and so on." Faced with multiple responsibilities, he realized that he had to restore his own physical and mental health first, so he started in-depth research on nutrition and diet. "Because of my dad, I really dove into studying nutrition and food." This experience of accompanying his family through illness also made him re-examine the relationship between physical and mental health and diet.
When discussing the emotional sensitivity issues common among modern people, Yoga Lin frankly pointed out that, apart from possible physical illnesses, "The first thing I think of is: are you nutritionally unbalanced?" He believes nutritional status is also an important factor that cannot be ignored.
