(Taichung, Taiwan, 30th) The 31st Malaysia-Singapore-Brunei-Taiwan-Hong Kong-Macau Chinese Legion of Mary Exchange Conference was grandly inaugurated on May 29 in Taichung, Taiwan. 470 Legionary friends from 42 units across Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macau gathered together for four days and three nights of faith exchange and fellowship.

This conference was organized by the Taichung Queen of Heaven Curia, which previously hosted the 12th exchange conference in 2004. After a 22-year gap, they once again take up this important responsibility.

The opening Mass was solemnly celebrated at the elegant Fatima Church, with Bishop Su Yao-wen of the Taichung Diocese as the main celebrant. Over 20 Legion spiritual directors and priests from both local and overseas co-celebrated. The Mass was themed “Hail, full of grace! The Lord is with you.”, and the atmosphere on-site was solemn and moving.

As the main venue of this exchange, Fatima Church provided a wonderful environment for participants to deepen their faith and encourage each other. During the conference, delegates will revisit the spirit of the Legion of Mary and strengthen inter-regional bonds and cooperation through sharing sessions, prayers, seminars, and social activities.

Under the coordination of President Luo Wenqi and Spiritual Director Fr. Huang Mingqiang, the event arrangements were orderly and rich in content. Luo Wenqi expressed that being able to once again host such a meaningful exchange is both an honor and a mission for the Taichung curia, and she thanked legionaries from various regions for their enthusiastic participation and support.

She pointed out that this exchange is not only a feast of faith, but also an important testimony to cross-regional unity and cooperation within the Chinese Legion of Mary. Participants unanimously agreed that, under the guidance of Our Lady, they will continue to carry forward the spirit of “prayer and service”, spreading the seeds of the Gospel to farther places.

The welcoming banquet was subsequently held at the Taichung Jinhua House Banquet Hall, where over 500 people gathered. The Taiwan delegation performed a variety of singing and dancing programs, presenting a colorful evening of entertainment with a joyous atmosphere throughout.

The Brunei Legion of Mary was led by Mother of Church Curia President Agnes Yang and Spiritual Director Fr. Ho Hong Fei, attended by 18 curia members; additionally, 38 legionaries from Miri, Bintulu, and Sibu also flew to Taichung via Brunei to join the event.

This exchange conference will conclude successfully on June 1.
