15 Miri Squash Athletes Set Off for National MSSM Games Team Up With Kuching & Sibu Teammates to Bring Glory to Sarawak

(Miri, 7th) 15 outstanding squash players from Miri recently set off for Negeri Sembilan to participate in the National School Sports Council (MSSM) Squash Championships, held from June 6 to 13. Together with their teammates from Kuching and Sibu, they formed the Sarawak contingent, competing alongside top players from all over the country.

This time, a total of 15 Miri athletes were selected for the Sarawak team. They are Wong Xiu Jun (Asher Wong), Khaira Maisara, Zheng Qian Sui (Amelia Chang), Wang Hong You (Ong Hung Yu), Lu Wu Ze (Jayden Loo), Yang Shi Wei (Marcus Yong), Chen Jia Xin (Chen Jia Xin), Chen Yi En (Jordeen Tan), Liang Zhang Hao (Lester Leong), Nevellton, Fan Shao Yang (Toby Huang), Jiang Bang Hong (Jeffrey Kong), Li Xin Yu (Lee Xin Yii), Li Xin Yao (Lee Xin Yao), and Chen Hui Xin (Joyce Chen).

It is understood that the Sarawak squash contingent is composed of 24 players from Miri, Kuching, and Sibu. Led by teachers, they are heading for the championship hoping to achieve excellent results and exchange skills with top players nationwide.

Teacher-in-charge Yang Qiulu said she hopes all athletes will uphold the sporting spirit, demonstrate teamwork and fighting spirit, give their all in the competition, and showcase their skill and style. She also encouraged everyone to cherish this valuable learning opportunity, gain experience from the event, and continue to improve their skills and mental strength.

She pointed out that the Miri Squash Team has been actively nurturing young players in recent years, achieving remarkable results at the state and national levels. With 15 players selected for the Sarawak team this time, it fully reflects the fruits of squash development in Miri.

The National MSSM Squash Championships is held from June 6 to 13 in Negeri Sembilan, with Yang Qiulu and Cai Jinhua as the accompanying teachers. The community also wishes all Sarawak squash players outstanding performance, to make the state proud and return with honors.
