Tun Abang Openg Legacy Brought to the Stage: Sarawak Leadership Attends and Shows Support

(Kuching, 7th) The legacy and struggle of the late Tun Datuk Abang Openg continue to be preserved and promoted through performing arts, notably via the theatrical performance "Sebuah Montage Sejarah: Teater Tun Openg – Awal Sebuah Legasi," which received the support of the highest state leadership last night at the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly Building.

The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi and his wife Datuk Patinggi Fauziah, were also present, adding prestige to the occasion.

Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari and his daughter Dayang Nur Jihan also attended the performance to support efforts to preserve the state's history and heritage.

This performance, organized by the Kuching City Children's Arts Association (PASBK), portrayed the life and remarkable leadership of the late Tun Openg, highlighting his pivotal role in the development history of Sarawak.

The play, through narrative and dramatization, showcased the challenges Tun Openg faced, his struggles, and his life principles during periods of power transition, the Japanese occupation, and state political turmoil.

Zainuddin, chairman of the Kuching City Children's Arts Association, said that this performance signifies significant trust in the arts community and that it conveys the story and values of a figure who made tremendous contributions to Sarawak.

He also expressed heartfelt gratitude to the entire production team, including the director, playwright, actors, musicians, and technical staff, for their hard work in ensuring the success of the performance.
