Amazon MGM Studios and United Artists have recently been reported to be planning a remake of the 1990s classic thriller 'Basic Instinct', with a hefty sum offered to hire award-winning screenwriter Joe Eszterhas, who scripted the original film, to pen the new screenplay. It is also rumored that 67-year-old Sharon Stone, the original leading actress, is expected to reprise her role.

Released in 1992, 'Basic Instinct' starred Hollywood heavyweights Michael Douglas and Sharon Stone. The story follows Michael's character, a homicide detective investigating a series of ice-pick murder cases. During the investigation, he discovers that a novelist, played by Sharon, is a suspect, and in the process is seduced by her, becoming her 'prey.' Sharon's daring performance in the film remains widely discussed by fans, with the notorious interrogation scene where she flashes becoming a shocking highlight. The film proved extremely popular upon release and received two Oscar nominations. In 2006, a sequel was produced, with Sharon reprising the same role, but unfortunately the box office ended in failure!
