Marudi Classic 2025 Bicycle Race Set to Start Showcasing Sports Spirit and Tourism Appeal

(Marudi, 22nd) Marudi is about to welcome a historic moment with the first bicycle race of 2025, "Marudi Classic 2025," to be held on April 27 (Sunday).

This highly anticipated event is co-organized by the Marudi District Office and Masterpiece Cycling Club, with strong support from the Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts. The race not only tests the physical and mental strength of the participants but also aims to promote Marudi's rich cultural heritage and natural beauty, positioning the area as a new hotspot for sports tourism.

The race route will start from Dataran Marudi in the city center, pass through Lubuk Nibong, and return to the front of the Marudi District Office, covering a total distance of approximately 60 kilometers. The event is scheduled from 8:00 am to 12:00 noon.

The race has three main categories: Men's Open, Men's Master, and Men's Veteran.

The organizers will offer cash prizes totaling RM5,000 and symbolic trophies, attracting many cyclists to participate. As of now, 103 participants have confirmed their registration, including 23 international competitors from Brunei, and participants from Sarawak, Sabah, and Peninsular Malaysia.

To ensure the safety of both participants and the public, the following temporary road closures will be implemented during the event:

Jalan Kampong Cina – full closure; Jalan Kapitan Lim Ching Kiat – partial closure; Jalan Komplex Sukan – full closure.

The authorities urge road users to plan their journeys in advance and follow the instructions of the traffic police to ensure the smooth running of the event.
