(Bintulu, 10th) In conjunction with the arrival of Ramadan, Tanjong Batu constituency state assemblyman, Pan Lung Ming, continues the annual tradition of distributing dates to the nine Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK) within the Tanjong Batu state constituency.
The nine JKKKs who received the donation are: Lucky Tower, Taman Tinggi, RPR Sebiew, Taman Iris, YTD Garden, Taman Binco, Simple Park, Bandar Jaya, and Taman Kembara.
Pan Lung Ming stated that every Ramadan, the Tanjong Batu state assemblyman’s service center carries out the date distribution activity as a mark of respect for Muslims in the community fulfilling their religious obligations during the fasting month.

During an interview yesterday while distributing the donations at the Tanjong Batu state assemblyman’s service center, he pointed out: "This is an annual event of the service center, aimed at respecting the diverse ethnic groups and different religious beliefs in the constituency, and also demonstrating our care for them."
He said that such community care activities should be continuously promoted, as they not only bring joy to the beneficiaries but also help strengthen the bonds and mutual understanding among community residents.
"Sarawak is renowned for its harmonious coexistence of a diverse society and mutual respect. The practice of sharing and understanding the customs and beliefs of different races should continue to be nurtured and passed on," he said.

Pan Lung Ming also pointed out that breaking fast with dates is an Islamic tradition, which holds significant meaning both religiously and health-wise.
"Dates are rich in nutrients and help restore energy after a day of fasting, making them very suitable as a food for breaking fast." He added that distributing dates before Ramadan also embodies the spirit of sharing and social care between leaders and the community.
In addition, he also distributed iftar and imsak (pre-dawn meal) time tables to facilitate Muslims in checking times throughout the month of Ramadan.
