Iranian Foreign Minister: If the US Insists on 'Zero Uranium Enrichment,' No Agreement Can Be Reached Between the US and Iran

Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi recently stated that the US government should take concrete confidence-building measures to resume negotiations with Iran. If the US insists on requiring Iran to achieve 'zero uranium enrichment,' it will be impossible for the two sides to reach an agreement.

According to a July 31 report from the Iranian News Agency, Araghchi made these remarks during an interview with the UK's Financial Times.

Araghchi said that deepening US-Iran tensions have aggravated Iran's trust crisis towards US President Trump. 'The United States must explain why it carried out attacks on Iran during negotiations, and must guarantee that such incidents will not happen again.'

He stated that he recently exchanged views with US Middle East envoy Witkoff, and informed the US side that, in order to resolve the years-long stalemate surrounding Iran's nuclear program, both parties should seek a 'win-win' solution.

He emphasized that although the path to negotiations between Iran and the US is narrow, it is not impossible. 'The US needs to take tangible trust-building steps, including economic compensation and guarantees that Iran will not be attacked during renewed negotiations.'
