(Bandar Seri Begawan, 8th) Brunei's first fact-checking platform, Waspada.bn, which recently went live, will expand into a fully functional website by the first quarter of 2026, providing the public with more comprehensive and systematic fact-checking and reference information against fake news and online scams.
Waspada.bn, launched by the Authority for Info-communications Technology Industry of Brunei Darussalam (AITI) on June 4, is currently operated through Instagram, offering the public a quick and convenient channel for updates.
One of the goals of Waspada.bn is to promote the circulation of reliable and accurate information. Waspada.bn brings together various government agencies, including the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications and AITI, to enhance the government's overall initiative in proactively combating misinformation and online scams.

AITI stated that the public must be aware that not all information on the internet is accurate or reliable. Although information sharing is sometimes intended for fact verification, it may inadvertently facilitate the spread of misinformation.
Therefore, the Waspada.bn platform aims to assist the public in verifying news and information received through social media, being wary of potential scams, and actively participating in curbing the dissemination of false information.

The platform aims to promote social information transparency and raise awareness, becoming part of a broader collective effort to combat misinformation that poses risks to individuals, organizations, and national harmony.
