Hun Sen: Thailand Will Replace Its Prime Minister Within 3 Months, Successor Not Yet Revealed

In response to a flood of Thai netizens leaving aggressive comments on his Facebook page, Cambodian ruling party chairman and Senate president Hun Sen made a strong statement on the 24th, accusing Thailand of attempting to 'spill over' its domestic political crisis to disputed areas along the Cambodia-Thailand border, provoking neighboring countries to divert attention from internal conflicts. He bluntly stated that Thailand's internal power struggle is hard to resolve and boldly predicted that Thailand will replace its prime minister within three months.

On the afternoon of the 24th, Hun Sen posted photos of his three sons on Facebook, which drew a torrent of antagonistic comments from Thai netizens. Hun Sen personally replied with a forceful comment, even using the term 'Siamese robbers' to describe Thailand.

Hun Sen wrote in his comment: 'The reason I posted this today is to let everyone know how those invaders (Thailand) have been interfering with my Facebook. From these acts of disruption, we can judge that this is being organized and planned by the leadership in Bangkok. They are creating incidents, infringing not only on territorial sovereignty, but even targeting my Facebook.'

Hun Sen pointed out that the Thai side is attempting to extend its internal conflict into one with Cambodia to ease tension in its own domestic political situation. He added: 'But no matter how hard they try, the internal power struggle still cannot be quelled.'

Hun Sen wrote: 'In my judgment, Thailand will have a new prime minister within the next three months, and I already have a good idea of who it will be. But I won't say it—it’s more interesting to keep some suspense.'
