Ryoko Yonekura Involved in Drug Case, Summoned; New Film's Preview Screening Abruptly Canceled

50-year-old "Queen of Japanese Dramas" Ryoko Yonekura was reported on the 19th to have been summoned for prosecution due to involvement in a drug case, causing a public stir. The trailer for her starring film "Angel Flight THE MOVIE" was just released on the 14th, and a preview screening was originally scheduled for the 21st with the expectation that the entire cast would attend. However, news of Yonekura's summons broke out, and the screening event has since been urgently canceled.

As for whether the film's release will be affected, an industry insider stated: "If 'Angel Flight THE MOVIE' were a theatrically released film, considering the image with sponsors or possible protests from cinemas, it could very likely face the severe prospect of being canceled. But since this is a streaming platform movie and the viewers are members, there currently doesn't seem to be much impact. The plan is still to launch as originally scheduled on February 13th."

Last year, it was reported that marijuana was found in Yonekura's home. Prosecutorial sources further revealed that the Narcotics Control Department had already applied for an arrest warrant back in October last year, intending to arrest her and her Argentine boyfriend. After a search at Yonekura's residence, her boyfriend immediately left the country and has not returned to Japan, essentially "fleeing overseas." On December 18th last year, the Narcotics Control Department switched to a voluntary investigation and again visited her residence for on-site inspection. As for whose drugs were found in the room, fingerprint investigations are ongoing.
