(Miri, 19th) — A contingent of 70 athletes from Pei Min Middle School set off in full force for Sibu today to compete in the 7th (2026) Sarawak Independent Chinese School Ball Games.
The chief leader of Pei Min’s delegation is Liao Guowei, with other accompanying teachers including Yang Youhe, Chen Zhonghan, Huang Ruiyi, and Liang Caiyu.
Teachers and students rallied with high spirits before departure, boarding large buses to Sibu with the hope of achieving victory, returning triumphant, and bringing glory to their school.
Principal Bei Meijiao stated that today's independent Chinese schools not only continue the tradition of Chinese education, but, in order to foster well-rounded student development, have incorporated sports and other extracurricular activities into teaching and place great value on them.
She said Pei Min has always emphasized sports, nurturing countless outstanding athletes over the decades. These students have won titles in various state and even national competitions, adding brilliance to the sports scene and shining brightly.
She remarked that each school team not only carries teachers’ expectations but also shoulders the mission of self-challenge and breakthrough. She hopes the athletes embody the highest qualities of sportsmanship, give their all, strive through effort to reach new heights, and showcase the highlights of their lives.
The 7th Sarawak Independent Chinese School Ball Games will ignite its competition in Sibu Catholic High on the 20th of this month, running until the 23rd. Independent Chinese schools from across Sarawak have sent teams to compete for championships.
