KUCHING: Bidayuh leaders, professionals, and youths have convened at the Dayak Bidayuh National Association Headquarters in Kuching for the third annual DBNA Bidayuh Forum.

Held under the theme “Cultivating Vision, Resilience, and Impact for Tomorrow’s Leaders,” the forum is a key platform for knowledge-sharing, mentorship, and leadership development within the Bidayuh community.

Organising chairman Dr Clarence Jerry said the forum’s success reflects the community’s unity and collective determination to progress with confidence.

“What began as a modest gathering has become an annual space for inspiration and collaboration – a bridge between generations, where wisdom meets energy, and experience meets aspiration,” he said, adding his appreciation to Forum Patron Datuk Amar Michael Manyin Jawong for his support in advancing DBNA’s leadership and education initiatives.

In his keynote address titled “Bidayuh Leadership in the 21st Century: Charting Our Own Path,” Manyin encouraged the younger generation to embrace an “immigrant mindset” driven by hard work, adaptability, and resilience.

“Leadership is not about titles; it begins in the heart and mind of every person who dares to dream and make a difference.

“We must first believe that we can chart our own path. Though we are small in number, we are rich in talent, wisdom, and determination. When united, there is nothing we cannot achieve,” he said.

He highlighted five key traits of the mindset – no entitlement, continuous learning, resilience, gratitude, and lifting others as one rises – as essential for Bidayuh youth to succeed in the modern era.

The forum featured an inspiring lineup of speakers, including Datuk Seri Idris Jala, Heineken Laluan, Agatha Charlotte Gerek, Ayden Lim Phong Hian, and Isaac Stalin Simon Japut, who shared insights on leadership, innovation, and lifelong learning.

A closing panel moderated by Dr John Francis Noyan engaged participants on the theme “Vision, Resilience, and Impact – Where Do We Go From Here?”

Manyin also commended DBNA for nurturing leadership among Bidayuhs and urged the community to remain united and forward-looking.

“Forums like this ignite ideas and inspire action. Let us continue to build our future with courage, knowledge, and collaboration,” he said.
