According to the Myanmar Light News on the 2nd, these individuals were involved in various crimes, including distributing pornographic films online and trafficking Myanmar women to China for forced marriage.
In one case, the military tribunal in Yangon, Myanmar's largest city, sentenced 5 people to life imprisonment on July 29, including 2 Chinese nationals.
They were convicted under Myanmar’s anti-human trafficking law for making pornographic films involving three Myanmar couples and profiting from them online.
In another case, the Yangon military tribunal sentenced a woman and three Chinese nationals to life imprisonment.
According to the Myanmar Light News, this group was convicted for planning to send two Myanmar women to China; these women had recently married two of the convicted Chinese men.
In addition, three others were sentenced to life imprisonment by other military tribunals for selling a woman to China as a bride and attempting to traffic another woman in the same way. (News Source: Central News Agency)
