(Bandar Seri Begawan, 28th) A 52-year-old woman, Nurul Jannah, was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment by the intermediate court on November 26 for multiple charges including forging immigration documents and using counterfeit rubber stamps.
Police discovered several altered passports and forged immigration stamps inside a parked vehicle in Kampong Menglait, subsequently arresting Nurul Jannah.
According to the first charge, she was found in possession of five Philippine passports, each with falsified Brunei Immigration Department employment permit stamps, respectively reading "Brunei Immigration Department Employment Permit Regulation No. 105 Article 15" and "Brunei Immigration Department Employment Permit Regulation No. 123 Article 15”, in violation of the Passports Act (Chapter 146) Section 12(1).
The second charge involved the possession of two forged rubber stamps, both imitating the official stamp of the Brunei Immigration Department, an offence under Penal Code (Chapter 22) Section 473(b).
The third and fourth charges are related to earlier incidents. She allegedly forged an “Employment Permit HQ105” stamp in January 2023.
Additionally, she was accused of forging an “Employment Permit HQ123” stamp and affixing it in March 2021 to another Indonesian passport belonging to Joviaty.
Both the third and fourth charges against Nurul Jannah are based on Brunei Penal Code Chapter 22 Section 466(c).
The judgement states that Nurul Jannah will begin serving her five-year sentence from July 10.
