(Miri, 12th) Miri and Limbang Chinese Schools Teachers' Association Chairman Principal Lai Zhaotian stated that in an era of rapid development of artificial intelligence, education is facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities. Teachers should actively master new tools, update their teaching philosophies, and enhance classroom effectiveness through differentiated teaching so that students can truly benefit.
He said the association is very grateful to Sarawak Transport Minister Dato Sri Dr. Lee Kim Shin for his long-standing support of the teachers' association activities, and also thanks all teachers for their enthusiastic participation in this workshop, which was jointly organized by the association and the Chinese School Teachers' Union. He expressed his sincerest gratitude and utmost respect to the participating teachers.
He pointed out his special thanks to the keynote speaker, Teacher Lian Chaosheng, for his wonderful sharing. With his rich teaching experience and professional quality, Lian explained the practical application of AI tools in Chinese classrooms in a simple and accessible manner, and guided teachers to think about how to implement differentiated teaching. He believes this has opened a new window to “intelligent teaching” for teachers.
Lai Zhaotian also praised the teachers for dedicating themselves to learning throughout the day, listening attentively and interacting enthusiastically, showing persistence and passion for professional growth, which is an important driving force in education’s continued progress.
He said the rise of AI is not only technological progress, but also a crucial opportunity for transformation of educational models. Differentiated teaching reminds educators that every student is a unique individual and should be guided and nurtured in a more detailed and warm manner.
He stated that the association hosted this workshop with the aim of providing teachers with a platform for learning and communication, enabling everyone to master new tools, update their teaching ideas and enhance classroom efficiency, so that students can benefit.
“The workshop is just a beginning; real change comes from practical implementation and persistence after returning to school. We hope that teachers will gradually integrate what they have learned into their classrooms, making AI an aid to teaching rather than a burden, and turning differentiated teaching from an idea into concrete action.”
He said that in the future, the association will continue to play the role of a bridge and platform, planning more professional development activities that closely meet teachers’ needs, and will work hand in hand with the education sector to promote the development of Chinese language education.
He also expressed thanks to all organizations and individuals who participated in and supported this event, which enabled the workshop to be held smoothly and successfully concluded.
