(Miri, 9th) A 40-year-old local man has been sentenced to four months in jail by the Miri Magistrates' Court after admitting to criminal trespass at a private residence.
The incident occurred at around 7pm on February 26th at a house on Jalan Permyjaya 8.
According to the facts presented during the trial, the accused climbed over the victim's backyard fence and entered the yard, attempting to steal longan fruit growing there.
However, his actions were discovered by the homeowner. With the assistance of the homeowner's son, they managed to restrain the man and subsequently called the police.
Police arrived at the scene and arrested the suspect for further investigation.
The case was investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code, which relates to criminal trespass.
