On the 25th, Ke Kim Yan, Chairman of Cambodia’s National Authority for Combating Drugs, stated that since the start of 2024, more than 140,000 Cambodian civil servants and military police personnel have undergone drug screening. Of these, 112 tested positive, with 109 having already been dismissed from their posts, while another 3 are still under further investigation.

During an International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking event held in Cambodia that same day, Ke Kim Yan remarked that the Cambodian government will continue to crack down resolutely on drug-related crime, strengthen discipline among civil servants and armed forces, thoroughly investigate drug-related behavior, and safeguard the image of national institutions and law enforcement agencies.

On June 24, the National Authority for Combating Drugs disclosed that during the first half of 2024, Cambodian law enforcement authorities investigated more than 4,700 drug-related cases, seized over 4 tons of drugs and drug precursor chemicals, and arrested more than 12,000 criminal suspects.
