On the 6th, Indonesian Minister of Transportation Budi issued a statement, apologizing on behalf of the government for the capsizing incident of the Bali speedboat "Dolphin 2" that occurred on the 5th, and stated that the matter would be immediately addressed and assessed.

The statement said that at about 2:30 p.m. local time on the 5th, the speedboat "Dolphin 2" carrying 75 passengers and 5 crew members departed from Penida Port heading for Sanur Port. The sea was calm and the wind was not strong during the voyage. At 3:10 p.m., as the speedboat was about to enter the entrance channel of Sanur Port and had already passed the red and green navigational marks, the captain turned the rudder to the left to prepare for docking. At this time, a wave suddenly struck the left side of the vessel, causing it to capsize.

The statement said that Budi requested relevant parties to take swift action regarding the speedboat capsizing accident.

According to the incident, 2 Chinese nationals died, 1 Indonesian crew member went missing, 73 passengers and 4 crew members were rescued. The missing crew member was later found but unfortunately was confirmed dead.

The Chinese Consulate General in Denpasar previously stated that, according to preliminary statistics, there were a total of 8 Chinese nationals on board, of whom 2 died, 3 were injured and sent to hospital, and the remaining 3 sustained minor injuries.
