(Germany, 14th) A bizarre poisoning incident has occurred at Leipzig Prison in Germany. A 23-year-old male inmate died suddenly after meeting with his girlfriend and kissing her goodbye; upon investigating, police found that the couple had attempted to smuggle drugs, passing them via a kiss. However, the male inmate accidentally swallowed an entire packet of amphetamines, leading to a heart attack caused by drug overdose. The woman will soon stand trial for drug trafficking and causing her boyfriend's death, and may face imprisonment as well as fines of tens of thousands of euros.
According to foreign media outlet The Sun, the incident took place at Leipzig Prison, Germany. The deceased, Mohamed, a Tunisian national, was being held on suspicion of drug trafficking, pending sentencing. On January 2 this year, Mohamed met his girlfriend Lora during visitation. When their time was up, the pair kissed goodbye in front of others; but after Mohamed returned to his cell, his cellmate noticed he appeared very unwell. Mohamed refused medical attention and died suddenly the next day.
Police investigations indicated that Mohamed died from an acute overdose of amphetamines. On the day of visitation, Lora had wrapped several grams of amphetamine in aluminum foil, concealed it under her tongue to successfully get past security, and then attempted to pass the drugs to her boyfriend with a passionate kiss. Unexpectedly, Mohamed swallowed the entire packet by mistake and died after exhibiting symptoms of poisoning.
An autopsy confirmed that the drug packet had ruptured in Mohamed's stomach, releasing a large quantity of amphetamines that caused acute poisoning and a fatal cardiac arrest. Although doctors were able to briefly resuscitate him, he was ultimately pronounced dead that afternoon.
