Road Upgrades Drive Economic Growth, Musi-Buso Accelerates Development

(Bau, 20th) With the ongoing Musi-Buso road upgrading project nearing completion, the areas of Musi and Buso are expected to experience rapid development. The significant improvement in road connectivity will open up new economic opportunities for the local communities.
The Deputy Minister of Transport (Riverine and Maritime), Datuk Henry Harry Jinep, stated that the upgraded road will be a key catalyst for growth, especially in spurring the development of the rural areas surrounding Musi and Buso.
He said most of the land in Musi and Buso is zoned for mixed use, which will help accelerate the pace of development.

“Currently, the Bau town area has become increasingly congested, with traffic jams almost every day. Therefore, we must pursue decentralized development, allowing areas like Musi and Buso, which are closer to Batu Kitang and Kuching, to develop into new townships.” He made these remarks during a media interview after handing over land compensation cheques at the Musi community hall today.
In the first phase of the compensation disbursement, a total of 88 landowners affected by the land acquisition for the project received their compensation cheques.
As the assemblyman for Tasik Biru, Henry pointed out that Musi and Buso are very close to Bau, and both have tremendous potential to develop into another township in the near future.
“Once traffic accessibility is in place and connectivity is close at hand, development will eventually spill over—this is inevitable. Whether it’s residential, commercial, or light industry, all are possible. In our Bau master plan, we have already made arrangements for these potential development uses, including residential areas, all of which are included in the planning blueprint.”
Henry believes that with improved road connectivity, Musi, Buso, and the entire Bau district will experience even faster development.

He noted that the Musi-Buso road upgrading project will not only improve traffic accessibility, but also stimulate economic activities, attract investment, and enhance the quality of life for residents.
The road upgrading project includes widening of existing lanes, improving drainage systems, constructing bridges, and strengthening road safety facilities.
Upon completion, this road is expected to become an important development corridor, efficiently connecting Musi, Buso, Bau, and Kuching.
