Serian Street Police Arrest Suspected Drug-Possessing Motorcyclist

(Serian Street, 20th) — Police successfully cracked a drug case on Sunday evening (January 18) during a patrol operation on Jalan Sungai Kesa, Serian Street, arresting a man suspected of possessing methamphetamine.
The arrest took place at around 5 pm. At the time, the Serian Street Police Narcotics Crime Investigation Division (NCID) noticed suspicious riding behavior from a motorcycle operated by the suspect and proceeded to intercept and inspect.

Serian Street District Police Chief Superintendent Aswandy Anis stated that, upon inspection, police found four transparent plastic packets containing crystalline substances suspected to be methamphetamine on the suspect.
Subsequently, police brought the suspect and the seized drugs—totaling 5.05 grams in weight—back to the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division office for further investigation.
He said that the case is currently being investigated under Section 39A(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, which pertains to the possession of a specified intermediate quantity of dangerous drugs.
If convicted, the suspect could face up to five years in prison and a maximum of nine strokes of the cane.

Superintendent Aswandy emphasized that the police, particularly the Narcotics Crime Investigation Division, will continue to strengthen enforcement operations and make every effort to combat drug trafficking and abuse.
Police also appeal to the public, that if anyone has information related to drug activities, they may contact the Bukit Aman Narcotics Crime Investigation Division hotline at 012-208 7222, or the Sarawak Narcotics Crime Investigation Division hotline at 017-592 9211 to provide leads.
