Chinese actress Nalnaxi has ignited widespread public questioning of educational fairness following rumors regarding 'college entrance exam migration' and 'breach of directional commission training agreements.' Official reports have stated she is suspected of falsifying her college entrance exam registration materials.
According to Jiupai News, internet users alleged that in 2008, Nalnaxi entered the Shanghai Theatre Academy through Inner Mongolia's directional commission training policy, benefiting from lower admission thresholds and a 'guaranteed civil service job upon graduation' policy. However, she did not fulfill her obligation to return to work in Inner Mongolia after graduation, instead breaching the agreement to study abroad, and three years later returned to China to enter the entertainment industry. This incident has raised public concerns about educational fairness.
According to relevant Chinese regulations, students in directional training programs must work in specified locations or units for a set period after graduation; violators are required to repay costs, pay liquidated damages, and their breaches are recorded in personal files, affecting their credit standing.
Per a Xinhua News report, after the Nalnaxi incident drew attention in Chinese public opinion, relevant authorities in Inner Mongolia formed a joint working group to conduct an investigation, and on Saturday (June 21) evening released an initial investigation update.
The notice stated that Nalnaxi was born in December 1989, and in February 1990, her household registration was processed in Hohhot City along with her father. In November 2011, her household registration was transferred out of Inner Mongolia. In 2008, Nalnaxi registered for the college entrance exam in her household registration locale, Hohhot, as an urban current-year student of Hohhot No.8 High School, but in reality did not have any academic record or enrollment history at that school. These actions are suspected to be cases of falsification of college entrance exam registration materials.
On the issue of college entrance exam admission, the report revealed that Nalnaxi's total score in the 2008 college entrance cultural exam was 449 (liberal arts), and her professional course score was 87 out of 100. According to the Shanghai Theatre Academy's 2008 admissions guidelines, applicants whose cultural and professional scores both meet the required standards are admitted according to their professional course score from high to low, combined with the enrollment plan and applicant preferences.
Regarding Nalnaxi's commission training agreement breach, the notice stated that in June 2008, the Inner Mongolia National Cultural Region Construction Leadership Group (Party A) and Nalnaxi and other students (Party B) signed a commission training agreement, stipulating that 'Party B must return to Inner Mongolia upon graduation to engage in work corresponding with the purpose of the commission training as designated by Party A.' 'If Party A is unable to arrange employment for Party B within Inner Mongolia, then Party B is allowed to seek employment independently.'
According to the report, in June 2012, after the Shanghai Theatre Academy sent graduation diplomas, degree certificates and other materials for the 2008 class of Inner Mongolia's commission training students, Nalnaxi applied on June 27th to retrieve her original graduation and degree certificates on the grounds of needing them to report for her master's studies in Norway. After consideration, approval was granted for Nalnaxi to receive her original graduation and degree certificates.
The notification stated that, in response to the issues discovered during the investigation, the joint work group will continue to conduct an in-depth investigation and, based on the results, will urge the start of corresponding handling procedures and hold those involved accountable in accordance with the law and regulations. Meanwhile, efforts will be made to learn from this incident, improve relevant systems, and strengthen supervision.
