(Bandar Seri Begawan, 2nd) – The two new interchange bridges at Mentiri Highway and Jalan Muara, along with the connecting road to Tanah Jambu, promoted by the Ministry of Development, were officially opened to the public this morning, bringing new opportunities for easing traffic congestion and enhancing road safety.

The opening ceremony was officiated by the Minister of Development, Dato Seri Juanda, with representatives from the Public Works Department’s (JKR) Roads Division introducing the project details. The related infrastructure includes a 30-meter interchange bridge spanning Jalan Muara, another 60-meter bridge spanning Utama Mentiri Road, and a 1.8-kilometer-long four-lane dual carriageway.

In addition, the project includes a newly constructed 1.4-kilometer-long corridor connecting Mengkubau Kampong Panchor National Housing Scheme to Utama Mentiri Road.

This project, an important part of the Eleventh National Development Plan (RKN 11), began construction in 2019 with a total cost of about BND 26 million, undertaken by Pro Builder Sdn Bhd, and is scheduled for completion on July 7, 2025.

The Ministry of Development stated that this infrastructure will not only ease peak-hour traffic pressure in the Mentiri area, but also help improve travel efficiency for surrounding residents, while promoting better connectivity between the Muara-Tutong Highway and the Jalan Muara area.

With optimized traffic flows, logistics and SME economic activities in the area are also expected to improve simultaneously, which will have a lasting impact on driving local economic development.

The Ministry also reminds the public to always follow traffic instructions and speed limits when using the new roads to ensure safety.
