(Bandar Seri Begawan, 5th) On March 2, Hsiao Sheng-chung, Representative of the Taipei Representative Office in Brunei, visited Chung Hwa School Tutong and, on behalf of the Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC) of Taiwan, donated teaching equipment. He received a warm welcome from the school's Chairman Sun Shengli, board members, and Principal Yan Ye, as well as the teaching team.
Chairman Sun and Principal Yan both expressed their gratitude to Representative Hsiao for his visit and for the long-term care and support from the Representative Office.
In his speech, Representative Hsiao expressed his particular delight at being able to visit Chung Hwa School during the Lunar New Year period and meeting the chairman, board members, teachers and students. In addition to extending New Year greetings, he specially brought a projector as a New Year’s gift to help the school enhance its teaching equipment and improve the quality of education.
Representative Hsiao stated that since he arrived in Brunei in May last year, he has admired the Chinese school boards, principals, and teachers for their dedication to promoting Chinese education and passing on Chinese culture despite limited funding. Seeing the development of Chinese schools and the achievements of their students, he expressed his comfort and satisfaction that these schools have become models of teaching excellence.
Representative Hsiao encouraged Chinese schools to make good use of various OCAC resources to enrich teaching and enhance educational outcomes. He welcomed Chinese schools to lead graduates on graduation trips to Taiwan to increase their understanding of Taiwan, deepen exchanges, and strengthen connections. He also encouraged outstanding Bruneian students to pursue further studies in Taiwan's high-quality educational environment to broaden their international perspectives.
Representative Hsiao promised that the Representative Office would always be a strong supporter of Chinese schools and would work together with them. He also wished continuous success for the schools and prosperity for their administration.
