A Saudi Arabian prince, known as the 'Sleeping Prince', who fell into a coma after a serious car accident in London in 2005 and remained comatose for 20 years, sadly passed away on the 19th at the age of 36.
The deceased is Prince Al-Waleed of Saudi Arabia, who, at the age of just 15, was involved in a traffic accident in London, UK, in 2005, which led to a brain hemorrhage and major internal bleeding, leaving him in a coma ever since.
Following the accident, the prince's life was sustained by a ventilator. Although there were occasionally weak responses, he never fully regained consciousness, earning him the moniker 'Sleeping Prince' from the public. His father, Prince Khalid, always refused to give up on him, declining to withdraw life-support, and personally cared for his son for many years.
Prince Khalid confirmed his beloved son's passing on social platform X on the 18th local time.
At the time of the tragic accident, Prince Al-Waleed was studying at a military academy in London. After the life-threatening accident, he was sent back to Riyadh, where he spent years being treated at King Abdulaziz Medical City.
The prince's funeral was held on the 20th at the Imam Turki bin Abdullah Mosque in Riyadh.
