Double Happiness for Matang God of Wealth Temple: Registered Certificate Awarded During Temple Festival

(Kuching, 15th) The God of Wealth Temple located on Matang–Sikoi Road experienced double happiness last night. While celebrating the Temple's annual God of Wealth Festival, the temple also welcomed the joyous news of officially receiving the registered society certificate from the Registrar of Societies, further enhancing the joyful celebratory atmosphere at the event, with the whole venue brimming with festivity and excitement.

Stampin MP for Sarawak DAP, Chong Chieng Jen, was invited to attend the birthday celebration and, under the arrangement of the organizers, presided over the certificate handover ceremony from the Registrar of Societies. In front of many devotees and witnesses, the registration certificate was officially handed over to the Temple's management committee. Although the ceremony was simple, it was highly significant.

Since its establishment in 2000, the God of Wealth Temple has relied on donations from devotees and support from kind-hearted individuals, gradually growing step by step to today. To assist the temple in developing towards a more structured and institutionalized direction, Chong Chieng Jen previously promised to help handle the society registration affairs, and instructed his special assistant Sim Chee Loong to follow up and assist throughout.

With close cooperation between both parties, they were able to successfully submit a complete application to the Registrar of Societies, and received official approval for registration before this past Lunar New Year, marking a new, more regulated stage for the temple's development.

Temple chairman Wu Junlong and the board also expressed their heartfelt thanks to Chong Chieng Jen and Sim Chee Loong for their full support, appreciating their active assistance in the preparation and submission of the registration documents, enabling the temple to finally obtain the registration certificate and hold a simple yet highly meaningful handover ceremony during last night’s festival celebration.

After the handover ceremony, Chong Chieng Jen also congratulated the board and discussed with them, reminding that now that the temple is registered, it must comply with the relevant regulations of the Registrar of Societies, including holding an annual general meeting, appointing an auditor to audit the accounts, and submitting meeting minutes and financial reports to the authorities.

He noted that, in the past, many societies had their registrations revoked due to neglecting such procedures. Once deregistered, not only would the operation of the society be affected, but the relevant committee members could even be blacklisted, so the consequences should not be underestimated.

“After obtaining the registration certificate, the temple’s operations will become more standardized and institutionalized, which is more conducive to its future development and growth. In the future, they can also apply for government grants through government channels and service centers of parliamentary representatives.”

At the same time, Chong Chieng Jen also praised that, from a small temple in its early days to today’s flourishing incense, the constant flow of devotees fully demonstrates the support and cohesion of the residents and devotees for this temple community.

He stated that he will continue to support the development of the temple and various other civil societies in the future, working together to promote social harmony and progress.
