French prosecutors stated last Friday (January 30) that thieves broke into the Paris residence of a Chinese National People's Congress (NPC) deputy while he was asleep, stealing jewelry and luxury items worth several million euros.
According to AFP, the Paris prosecutor's office said the incident occurred from Thursday night (January 29) to the early hours of Friday, in the upscale 16th arrondissement of Paris. Police found no sign of forced entry at the scene.
The prosecutor added that the NPC deputy was attacked in his sleep, and that multiple pieces of jewelry and luxury goods were stolen.
Police sources said the deputy woke up after hearing noises and was struck on the head by the robbers, who then fled the scene.
