According to reports, French police have arrested four people on suspicion of engaging in espionage activities for China, including two Chinese citizens.
Foreign media cited a statement from the Paris Prosecutor’s Office saying that on the 30th of last month, French police received a notification that two Chinese nationals were engaged in satellite signal interception activities at a residence in the southwestern Gironde department.
Authorities found that the two suspects were allegedly intercepting Starlink satellite network data, including data from some military-related institutions, and then transmitting this information to China.
Investigators conducted a search the next day and discovered a computer system connected to a satellite antenna, used for intercepting satellite data. The two individuals involved have been detained.
The other two suspects were arrested by police on suspicion of illegally importing related equipment.
The Chinese embassy in France has not yet commented on the report.
