On the 14th, U.S. President Trump posted on social media that, after meetings with leaders of Middle Eastern countries, he has decided to replace the 20% fee on goods shipped through the Strait of Hormuz with trade and investment agreements between Gulf countries and the United States.
He stated that the scale of these investments would be extremely large.
He said: “We will see factories, facilities, and equipment pouring into the United States at an unprecedented scale. This will create millions of high-paying American jobs! America wins again!”
Trump also pointed out that the U.S. will implement a full blockade against Iran, but it will target only ships traveling to and from Iranian ports or carrying Iran-related goods.
He again emphasized that Iran will never possess nuclear weapons.
On the 13th, Trump had posted on social media that the U.S. would resume its maritime blockade of Iran and would collect a 20% fee on all goods shipped through the Strait of Hormuz. He later told the media at the White House that, in the conflict with Iran, the United States should be compensated by “the countries we are helping,” and that the U.S. has been very effective in protecting Israel, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE.
